"For I am longing to see you so that I
may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you or rather
so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both
yours and mine." Romans 1:11-12 |

In a culture that so often lacks
community, it is typical for people to feel alone. God calls
us, in Ephesians 4:2, to "bear with one another in love". At
Calvary Chapel Mountain View, we see ourselves as a family.
God has made us all different; with different personalities,
different ideas, and different gifts and talents so that we can help
and encourage each other along the way. |

After 29 years of walking in
darkness, I gave my life to Jesus in 1986 and began a whole new
life, walking in His marvelous light.
I first sensed the Lord calling
me to minister to teenagers when I became involved with a street
evangelism team in 1989. Kelly and I began our ministry to the
Youth in the Calvary Chapel we were attending at the time.
|
|
|
Wanting to go deeper in the things of
God, I enrolled in and graduated from the Calvary Chapel School of
Ministry. I was ordained in 1991 and served as a Youth Pastor until
1996 when the Lord called us to take a step of faith, leave our
friends and family to come to Northern California.
Most recently, Kelly and I were
living in the Santa Cruz area where I was serving as an Elder at
Calvary Chapel Aptos overseeing the Youth ministry. I felt the Lord
stirring my heart and preparing us for a new ministry opportunity
but I wasn't sure what it would be. It was at this same time that
the elders at Calvary Chapel Palo Alto asked me to consider taking
on the responsibility of leading this fellowship. We met a number of
times and sought the Lord’s will in prayer together in the matter.
It is exciting to be able to tell you that God worked in miraculous
ways to confirm my calling to this fellowship.
I pray you also might know the Joy of
being led by the Lord into His perfect will for your life! |

I Tim 4:14-15
"Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you
by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that
your progress may be evident to all." |

Because of God's grace in my own life,
it's my desire to give myself to the gifts He's given me by
ministering and encouraging youth to seek the Lord and their own
relationship with Him. |

"But you are a chosen generation, a
royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so
that you might speak of the praises of Him who called you out of
the darkness and into His marvelous light."
1 Peter 2:9
He truly has lead me out of the
darkness and into the light of His glory and |

grace. For twenty years I sought
to serve myself and please myself. But after receiving Jesus Christ
as my Lord and Savior, He changed my desire to serve Him and His
people in whatever way I can. |

"I count all things to be loss in
view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord" -
Phil. 3:8a
Something tremendous happened to
me when I discovered that if I was to live a meaningful life, my
primary objective must be to know Jesus more. Everything else
must pale in comparison. And I've come to realize |
|
|
that "knowing Jesus" more isn't
simply "knowing about Jesus". It isn't some intellectual exercise
achieved through the memorization of so many Scriptures or going to
church so many times a week.
"Knowing Jesus" is about cultivating
an intimate, personal relationship with our Lord and Savior; sharing
our hearts with Him daily, desiring to hear His voice through the
Word of God. Nothing else comes close to "the surpassing value of
knowing Christ Jesus". I find it amazing that God considered a
relationship with me and you so important, that He gave His only
begotten Son to die on the Cross, that we might be able to know the
Lord our God.
Do you know Jesus? He wants so much
to begin a relationship with you today.
"Behold, I stand at the door and
knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in
to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." - Revelations 3:20

I was raised in a church and knew
right from wrong, but was powerless to do right. That
powerlessness to sin and its companion, guilt, were overthrown
when, 28 years ago, I received Christ and began to walk daily
with Him. "Then you will know the truth and the truth will
set you free." John 8:32 |

Jesus Christ has rebuilt my marriage
and other dear relationships. He has restored my life.
" I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has
eaten." Joel 2:25 Whether
in our own church or in mission work in faraway places, my wife and
I like to share this gift we've been given by Jesus.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the
old has gone, and the new has come!" 2 Cor. 5:17 "All this from God,
who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry
of reconciliation." 2 Cor. 5:17-18. |
