"For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine." Romans 1:11-12
In a culture that so often lacks community, it is typical for people to feel alone. God calls us, in Ephesians 4:2, to "bear with one another in love". At Calvary Chapel Mountain View, we see ourselves as a family. God has made us all different; with different personalities, different ideas, and different gifts and talents so that we can help and encourage each other along the way.

After 29 years of walking in darkness, I gave my life to Jesus in 1986 and began a whole new life, walking in His marvelous light.
I first sensed the Lord calling me to minister to teenagers when I became involved with a street evangelism team in 1989. Kelly and I began our ministry to the Youth in the Calvary Chapel we were attending at the time. Wanting to go deeper in the things of God, I enrolled in and graduated from the Calvary Chapel School of Ministry. I was ordained in 1991 and served as a Youth Pastor until 1996 when the Lord called us to take a step of faith, leave our friends and family to come to Northern California.
Most recently, Kelly and I were living in the Santa Cruz area where I was serving as an Elder at Calvary Chapel Aptos overseeing the Youth ministry. I felt the Lord stirring my heart and preparing us for a new ministry opportunity but I wasn't sure what it would be. It was at this same time that the elders at Calvary Chapel Palo Alto asked me to consider taking on the responsibility of leading this fellowship. We met a number of times and sought the Lord’s will in prayer together in the matter. It is exciting to be able to tell you that God worked in miraculous ways to confirm my calling to this fellowship.
I pray you also might know the Joy of being led by the Lord into His perfect will for your life!

"...Fot it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13
This has become my life verse. I'm a slow learner, but God is faithful to do a work in me, first to desire and then to do for His good pleasure. I'm finally "starting" to get it. Life is about Him! It is my desire to encourage the youth to seek the Lord and their own relationship with Him, learning to live a life of faith.

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you might speak of the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness and into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9
He truly has lead me out of the darkness and into the light of His glory and grace. For twenty years I sought to serve myself and please myself. But after receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, He changed my desire to serve Him and His people in whatever way I can.

"You shall love the Lord Your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind" - Matthew 22:37
The great hymn-writer Isaac Watts once wrote, "The Great God values not the service of men, if the heart be not in it: The Lord sees and judges the heart; He has no regard to outward forms of worship, if there be no inward adoration, if no devout affection be employed therein. It is therefore a matter of infinite importance, to have the whole heart engaged steadfastly for God."
My desire is that CCMV would engage in this matter of infinite importance and to the best of our ability, stir up the whole heart in devotion to our most glorious God.

I was raised in a church and knew right from wrong, but was powerless to do right. That powerlessness to sin and its companion, guilt, were overthrown when, 28 years ago, I received Christ and began to walk daily with Him.
Jesus Christ has rebuilt my marriage and other dear relationships. He has restored my life, just as the Lord spoke to the prophet Joel, "I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has eaten."
It is the desire of both my wife and I to share this wonderful gift we've been given by Jesus.
